Agshin Alizade

Agshin Alizade, son of Aligulu, was born in Baku. He studied at the special music school named after Bulbul (1955), Azerbaijan State Conservatory (composition class of Jovdat Hajiyev, 1962). He started his career as a teacher at the Azerbaijan State Conservatory and worked in the department of composition (1963-1972). He held the positions of the Secretary of the Board of the Azerbaijan Composers’ Union (1979-1985), the first secretary of the Azerbaijan Composers’ Union (1985-1990). He was the artistic guiding of the Azerbaijan State Philharmonic (1991-1994). In 2007, he was elected the secretary of the Board of Directors of the Union of Composers of Azerbaijan and worked in that position until 2012. The sonata he wrote while a student was awarded the 1st degree diploma at the “First All-Union Competition of Young Composers” (1962), and the first symphony he wrote later was awarded the 1st diploma at the “Transcaucasia Spring” festival. Main works: “Babek” ballet (1979), “Natevan” ballet, “Journey to the Caucasus” ballet (2002), “Hope Waltz” ballet (2008), 5 symphonies, concerto for violin and orchestra, poem for cello and orchestra, chorus for “Bayatilar”, “Children’s suite”, “Pastoral”, “Ashighsayagi”, “Cangi”, “Village suite”, “Epic”, “Shirvan plates”, “Humoreska” (for children’s choir), for violin and piano ” Portrait”, “Epic” for piano, “Old games” for piano, “Dialogue” for violin and organ, choreographic symphony, etc. He wrote music for more than 40 films and plays. He was awarded the Order of Glory (1997) and the Order of Honor (2012). People’s artist (1987), State prize laureate (1978), professor (1988) Aghshin Alizade died in 2014 and was buried in Alley of Honor.
