Emin Sabitoglu

Emin Sabitoglu (Emin Mahmudov Sabit son of Rahman) was born in Baku. He studied at music school, Azerbaijan State Conservatory (1954-1956, class of Gara Garayev), Moscow State Conservatory named after P. Tchaikovsky (1956-1961, composition class of Yuri Shaporin). In 1961, he worked as a music editor at the “Azerbaijanfilm” film studio. In the following years, he worked as an artistic guiding at the State Philharmonic and a teacher at the State Conservatory named after Uzeyir Hajibeyov. He is the author of many works in different genres of music: he wrote a symphony, three symphonic poems, three cantatas, a string quartet, a poem for violin and piano. However, the song genre was the basis of his creativity. He composed music for more than 600 songs, 9 musical comedies, and about 40 films. The songs “Valleys”, “Baku, Good Morning”, “Far Green Island”, “Mountains”, “Justice is also a good thing” are some of his many works. In addition to the theaters of the capital, he composed music for the performances of Sumgayit, Ganja, Lankaran, Mingachevir, and Nakhchivan theaters. In the last years of his life, he lived in Turkey and was a professor at the Turkish National Conservatory of Istanbul Technical University. People’s artist Emin Sabitoglu died in 2000.
Composer Emin Sabitoglu is the son of writer and playwright Sabit Rahman.
