Davud Imanov

Filmdirector

Davud Huseyn oglu Imanov was born in Akmolla district of Kazakhstan. He studied at the All-Union State Institute of Cinematography (1979-1984). While studying in Russia, he shot the documentary film “Profession – actress” (1981) as a course work. He graduates from the institute with an honors diploma. In 1984-1994, he worked as a director at “Azerbaijanfilm” film studio. The two-part documentary “Echoes of Sumgait” about the events of Sumgait was the one that made him known the most. In the last years of his life, he worked as the director of the Azerbaijan representative office of “MIR” interstate television company (1995-2002). Director Davud Imanov, who participated as a judge in many international festivals, died on September 20, 2002.
