Habib Ismayilov

Director, screenwriter

(21.02.1906 – 31.12.1966)

Habib Ismayilov, son of Alakbar, was born in Nakhchivan. He graduated from the directing and acting faculty of the Moscow State Theater Art Institute (GITIS, 1931). Later, he graduated from post-graduate studies in theater studies (GITIS, 1954). He worked as an artistic director, director and chief director in Baku, Ganja, and Makhachkala Theaters (1931-1943). In 1938, he was appointed the chief director of the Musical Comedy Theater. He was engaged in pedagogical activity in acting at Baku Conservatory and Theater Technical College (1940-1941). He has been working in cinema since 1943. In 1943, he was appointed the head of the newsreel department at the Baku film studio. He worked as a director at “Mosfilm” for some time (1949-1950, Moscow). Since 1946, he also worked as a dubbing director. Honored artist (1960) Habib Ismayilov died in 1966.
