Shamil Aliyev son of  Yavar was born in Baku. He studied at the directing faculty of the Azerbaijan State Art Institute named after M.A. Aliyev (1984-1989). In 1989, he staged K. Aslanov’s play “Sleep” at the Young Audience Theater named after M. Gorky. Since 1990, he has been working at the “Azerbaijanfilm” film studio. In 2006-2007, within the Swedish FOCAL IFA-SC (SWITZERLAND) programs, the leadership of Claire Downs (Claire Downs, United Kingdom), Cedomy Colar (Cedomir Colar, France), Luciano Gloor (Switzerland), Sandy Liberson (USA) He finished cinematography courses in master classes. He was the chairman of the jury at the V START International film festival, a member of the jury at the 5th NOIDA International Film Festival held in India in 2018. In 2012, he participated in more than 250 international A and B category film festivals with “CHOLCHU” and other films, and was awarded more than 150 international awards, including the grand prize several times. He was awarded the “Humay” national award (2013), the “Golden Fox” award of the Calcutta International Cult Film Festival and many other international awards for the film “Cholchu”. He was awarded the “Progress” medal on August 1, 2018.
