Yavar Rzayev son of  Maarif was born in Baku. He studied theater directing faculty at the Azerbaijan State Art Institute (1975-1980), directing faculty at the All-Union State Institute of Cinematography (1985-1990, V.Lisakovich’s workshop). Since 1980, he has been working at the “Azerbaijanfilm” film studio. In 2015, he was awarded the “Golden Fairy” Professional Award of the Azerbaijan Film Academy in the nomination “Best Original Screenplay” for the film “Divine Creature”. Later, the director’s feature film “Dance of Good and Evil” (2016) won the “Golden Fairy” Professional Award of the Azerbaijan Film Academy in the nomination “Best Director’s Work” in 2018. Director Yavar Rzayev has been an Honored Artist of Azerbaijan since 2008.
