Zaur Maharramov son of  Khasay  (Zaur Maharram) was born in Baku. He studied at the cinematography faculty of the All-Union State Institute of Cinematography (1957-1963). In 1963, he started working as a cinematographer assistant at the “Azerbaijanfilm” film studio. Since the 1980s, he has continued his work as a director, devoting his creativity to documentary cinema. In 1988, he organized the “Memory” documentary film studio. Honored artist, winner of the State Prize (1982), professor Zaur Maharramov taught at the film and television department of Anadolu University of Turkey for a long time. 2 books “Thoughts on Cinematography” and “Thoughts on Documentary” have been published in Turkey. Director, cinematographer, screenwriter Zaur Maharramov was awarded the “Golden Fairy” Professional Award of the Azerbaijan Film Academy “for his contributions to the development of national cinema” in 2015.
