Mayis Agabeyev son of Alishir  was born in Baku. He studied at Azerbaijan State Art School named after Azim Azimzade (1961), All-Union State Institute of Cinematography (1969). He worked as an art dirctor in “Azerbaijanfilm” film studio. Since 1965, he has participated in international and local exhibitions with his film and painting works. Since 1996, he has been teaching at the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts and was a professor of the “Academic painting” department, and in 2006-2010, he was the head of the department. He was awarded the “Humay” national award (2012). In 2018, Mayis Agabeyov was awarded the “Golden Fairy” Professional Award of the Azerbaijan Film Academy “for his contributions to the development of Azerbaijani cinema”.  People’s artist (2000) Mayis Agabeyov died on June 17, 2020.
