Dinara Gerekmezli daughter of  Isa  was born in Marneuli district of Georgia. In 1963, they moved to Baku with their family. She studied at the Faculty of Poetry of the Moscow Institute of Literature named after M. Gorky (1969-1974). She worked as an apparatchik, typist and worker in the book database of “Azerkitab” (1966-1969), after graduation she worked as a reporter in the editorial office of “Molodyoj Azerbaijan” newspaper (1974-1977). In 1977-2001, she worked in “Azerkinovideo” production company and at the same time in “Azerbaijanfilm” film studio. During her working period, she was the editor of dozens of documentaries and feature films, worked together with directors such as Rasim Ojagov, Eldar Guliyev, Huseyn Mehdiyev, Zaur Maharramov, Jamil Guliyev, Teymur Bekirzade, etc. She started artistic creation in 1967. Her poems, translations and essays were published in periodicals and almanacs. She is the screenwriter of the books “Hello” (1978), “When the Birds Wake Up” (1987), “The Taste of Figs” (2005), documentaries, television and cartoons. Dinara Garakmezli is a member of Writers Union (1988), Journalists Union (2000), Artists Union (2005) and Film Directors Guild (2006). She is Honored cultural worker (2009).
