Imran Gasimov son of Hashim was born in Baku. He studied at the Faculty of Philology of the Azerbaijan State University and at the Higher Scriptwriting Courses in Moscow. He worked as the first deputy minister of cinematography under the Council of Ministers of Azerbaijan, a dramaturg consultant at the Writers’ Union of Azerbaijan (1953-1954), the editor-in-chief of “Literary Azerbaijan” magazine (1954-1956), and the first secretary of the board of directors of the Writers’ Union of Azerbaijan (1975-1981). He started his literary activity in 1938 as a screenwriter and dramatist. He is the author of up to 20 novels, stories and short stories. The plays “Why do you live”, “Expand the circle”, “Man settles down”, “Dawn over the Caspian”, “Our life is short” were staged. He is the author of  “On distant shores” (1954), “Years pass” (1968), “French tapestry (Road notes)” (1970), “Italian mosaic” (1972) and other books. Honored art worker (1960), People’s writer (1979), State prize laureate (1980) Imran Gasimov died in 1981.
