Magsud Mammad Ibrahimbeyov son of Ibrahim was born in Baku. He graduated from the construction faculty of the Azerbaijan State Polytechnic Institute (1955-1960), advanced script courses in Moscow (1962-1964) and advanced directing courses (1971-1973). He was an employee in the heavy industry construction trust of the Ministry of Construction (1960-1962), a special correspondent for Azerbaijan of the Central Television and Radio Broadcasting Committee (1964-1971). He started his artistic creation in 1960. The work “Mesozoic story” won the 1st prize in the All-Union competition of plays dedicated to the working class. He was awarded the state award for “When the owl comes…” and “Death to all good! works (1976). He is the author of novels, short stories and stories published in various periodicals of the world. His works have been translated into 26 foreign languages. “A Mesozoic Story” (1975), “Death to All Good Things” (1978), “Rhinoceros Horn” (1993), “The Wise Sphinx Smiles” (2001), “Final Restaurant” (2006). “His Majesty’s Rolls – Royce” (2009) and other plays were performed in more than sixty theaters in the production of well-known stage figures. Among them, the names of prominent figures such as Boris Ravenskikh (Moscow Small Drama Theater), Zinoviy Karagodsky (Leningrad Young Audience Theater), Tofig Kazimov (Azerbaijan National Drama Theater), Alexander Sharovsky (Baku Russian Drama Theater) and others can be mentioned.

He is screenwriter of “Let him stay with us” (1974, directed by Irina Tarkovskaya / Russia), “The Secret of the Mountain Cave” (1975, directed by Lev Mirsky / Russia, based on the work “Death for All Good”), “You are not my song” ( 1975, director Anatoly Kabulov / Uzbekistan), “Who will go to Truskaves?” (1977, directed by Valery Ahadov / Tajikistan), “Because I am Ayvar Lidak” (1978, directed by Biruta Veldre / Latvia), “Waltz of Golden Calves” (1992, directed by Murad Ibrahimbeyov / Russia), “A Man for a Young Woman” (1996, directed by Murad Ibrahimbeyov / Russia) films which are made by foreign producers. Chairman of the Assembly of Nobles of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Honorary Senator of the State of Louisiana (USA), Honorary Citizen of the City of Minneapolis (USA), President of the PEN Club of the Republic of Azerbaijan, laureate of the Azerbaijan State Prize (1976), “Honor”, “Fame” and “Independence” orders ( 2005), Order of “Friendship” (Russia), laureate of the Order of the Pope, honored artist (1979), people’s writer, chairman of the Peace Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan, member of the Milli Majlis (1995, 2000, 2005) Magsud Ibrahimbeyov died in 2016 , was buried in the Alley of Honor.Writer Magsud Ibrahimbeyov is the brother of screenwriter Rustam Ibrahimbeyov.
