Ramiz Rovshan (Ramiz Aliyev son of Mammadali) was born in the village of Amirjan, Baku. He is originally from Teymur Muskanli village of Gubadli district. He studied at the Faculty of Philology of the Azerbaijan State University (1964-1969), at the screenwriting department of the Higher Course of Directors and Screenwriters in Moscow (1976-1978). He worked as an editor in the “Mozalan” satirical film magazine studio (1971), a screenwriter in the script workshop of the film studio (1974-1975), a member of the script editorial board (1979-1987), and the editor-in-chief of the film studio (1987-1992). Since 1992, he has been the editor-in-chief of the Azerbaijan Translation Center. He is a member of the Board of the Azerbaijan Writers Union, the Board of the Azerbaijan Professional Film Directors Guild, and the World Poetry Movement (WPM) Coordination Council.

Films were made based on his scripts. His poems and stories were translated and published abroad.

He is the recipient of the “Turkish World Science, Culture and Art Award” (2013), an academician of the Eurasian Academy and the “Legend of Eurasia” award of the academy (2019). He is the People’s Poet of the Republic of Azerbaijan (2019)..
