Kenan Azizaga Mammadov (Kenan Aziz) was born in Baku. He became a member of the Pioner Palace photo club. Director of photography Khan Babayev, a neighbor in Icherisheher, saw his passion for photography and instilled in him an interest in the art of image directing. After studying at the Azerbaijan Polytechnic Institute until 1971, he sent his documents to Moscow. For some time he worked in the photo laboratory of the Ministry of  Oil Industry. He studied at the cinematographer faculty of the All-Union State Institute of Cinematography (1971-1976, workshop of A. Galperin). He started working as a director of photography in feature and documentary films at “Azerbaijanfilm” film studio. He worked as a director of photography at ANS TV (1999-2002). He taught at Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts (1996-2002). In 2010, he was elected a member of the European Film Academy. He is Honored artist, laureate of the State award.
