Teyyub Akhundov son of Mirzahasan was born in Baku. From a young age, he was interested in photography and cinema. He came to the film studio at the age of 14. At that time, shooting of the film “Almas” was taking place at the Baku film studio. Teyyub is also hired as a assistant cameraman to the creative team of the film. He goes to the front in 1941. He fights on the Ukrainian front, participates in the battles for Stalingrad, Kirovograd, Nikolayev, Chisinau, Budapest, Prague. With a camera in the battlefield, the soldier films the miserable life of his friends, devastated towns and villages, people suffering from the horrors of war, and unknowingly creates the chronicle of the war. These photos are later used in documentaries. In 1946, he was discharged from the army and returned to the Baku film studio. In the same year, he was sent by the management together with several employees of the film studio to Moscow – the All-Union State Institute of Cinematography to study higher cinematography (faculty of cinematography, workshop of Anatoly Golovnya and Mark Magetson). After graduating from the institute (1952), he worked for some time as an intern and then as a full-time employee at the “Mosfilm” film studio. He was the director of photography of the film “Boris Godunov” (1954, directed by Vera Stroyeva). From 1953 until the end of his life, he was an employee of “Azerbaijanfilm” film studio. Honored artist Teyyub Akhundov died in 1991.
