Samad Mardanov

Samad Mardanov son of Hashim (Samad Mardani) was born in Tbilisi. He was the first Azerbaijani film director to graduate from the directing faculty of the All-Union State Institute of Cinematography (1935). He was a student of Sergei Eisenstein. For some time he taught at the film department of the Baku Theater Technical College (1937-1938). The historical-revolutionary film “Peasants” shot by Samad Mardanov in 1939 was included in the golden fund of Azerbaijani cinema. Director Samad Mardanov died in 1939.
Samad Mardanov is the brother of actor Mustafa Mardanov.
