Latif Safarov

Latif Safarov son of Bashir, was born in Shusha. When he was 7 years old, he appeared in the movie “Gilan Gizi”. Later, little Latif, who came to Baku with the creative team, was admitted to the studio. At the age of ten, he played the lead role in the film “Latif” (1930). Later, he played child roles in other films. He studied at Ganja Pedagogical Technical College (1931). In 1940, he was admitted to the All-Union State Institute of Cinematography in Moscow (Grigory Kozintsev’s course). The beginning of the war did not allow him to continue his education, he returned to Barda and for some time (1941-1946) was engaged in teaching. In 1946, he returned to Moscow and continued his studies. In 1950, he finished his studies and returned to Baku, where he started working in a film studio. Latif Safarov was the first head of the Union of Cinematographers of Azerbaijan (1958). Honored artist (1960) Latif Safarov committed suicide in 1963.
Director, actor Latif Safarov was the husband of singer Shavket Alakbarova.
